Bill Orr and Maury Hurt, Trustees Emeritus of Maitland Art Center, were behind the original lawsuit in the 1960s that created the Public Charitable Trust for the people of Florida.  Today, Bill and Maury continue their mission to preserve and protect the legacy of Jules Andre Smith for the benefit of the public by encouraging the City to seek National Historic Landmark Status.
